Hey. So I thought I would start the first blog explaining how we have set about planning for this huge adventure.
Sara and I have started on the two different spectrum's of the scale. I am so excited about the equipment that we will be spending our fortunes on, that I have started writing about 10 pages with different lists of what people suggest for backpacks, tents (or tarps?), stoves, water cleaning systems, shoes... the list is endless.
Sara on the other hand has already dug in and bought the first book for the trail - The Pacific Crest Trail Guidebook: Southern California (you can find this in the shop on the pcta.org website) and has started planning the trip that way. She has explained to me (to my shocked face :O) that there are hundreds of plants and wildlife to know about... Yiiiikes!?!?! And that's just the start.
Sara is a little more advanced when it comes to pushing your body to its limits as she has been on a few adventures already... while I am a complete Novice. I have never done anything like this so for me to try and get in a mindset to be able to handle it is proving difficult... but I have a whole year so wish me luck :)
We will keep this site updated over the year to show what we are buying for food packs, equipment in all aspects, first aid, walking sticks etc... A difficulty we are facing is the fact that I will be living in other countries for most of the year so I will be getting things sent to Sara's house in America and then hope that the 2 weeks before the trail is enough time to get every last minute thing sorted.
