Hi guys,
So I have excellent news for me and Sara. I sent the day in Munich a couple of days ago getting my Visa sorted (and shopping as you can see) and my Visa got approved :D :D Which means I will be booking my flight today!! Exciting times :)
I also spent a lot of money... but it was fun :D Ill start with the 2 big things I bought. My backpack and sleeping bag. Btw I bought all this stuff in a shop called Globetrotter in Munich. Amazing!!!!
So my Backpack is a Osprey Kestrel 58 (which is actually a men's backpack but it fit me better because I have a slightly hollow back) and I love it! I walked around with it all day in Munich and it seems to be very comfortable and fit my body well. It only weights 1,7kg and came with a rain cover and whistle :) I tried on some other Osprey and Deuter Backpacks but they just weren't for me. So far I am very happy with it :)
Then my Sleeping bag. Man this took some time deciding. I kept going in and out of several sleeping bags and ended up with two. A Yeti sleeping bag and this Western Mountaineering one, but even though the Yeti one was cheaper, it was also much heavier and I knew I would regret the extra 500g while trekking through the hot desert sun! So I decided on the Alpinlite Western Mountaineering which only weights 880g and is spacious enough for me to sleep on my tummy :)
Right, now for the first two pictures. In the first picture I have my Hat which is from the company Stetson. It has a wide brim and at the back a neck protector which can be clipped up. It also has lots of mesh by your hair so that you don't get too hot under there :)
I bought another buff bandana. This one is a little lighter and will be used in the desert when it isn't so sunny but still hot. The socks on there are smartwool ultralight hiking socks. Now, I got these to try out and see if I like them. I will be wearing them on my runs and hikes throughout the next week and I will report back of how I feel in them.
The little bag on the first picture is my sleeping bag liner which is made of pure silk so it us ultralight and comfortable. I also have my pot which is from Snow Peak, ultralight and holds around 700ml. This will be used for cooking and hot chocolate :D YUM!
There is also a little lighter in that picture which can be refilled just in case we need some instant fire.
Now to the second picture... Sara and I were discussing what to get to charge our devices and we kind of didn't make a decision, until I went and bought this solar charger. It is the SolarMonkey Adventure Slimline. Now I have already used this a couple of times and seems to work really well. It charges an iPhone fully in about 2 hours which i think is pretty good. It can also be used to recharge my new Samsung phone, our Kindle's and other devices.
Then I got my sports bra and underwear which is made of Merino Wool and very breathable and comfy.
I also got 2 platypus 2 liter bags and some Spider shoe Grivels which only weight 140 grams and will keep me steady on ice and snow :)
That's it for now.. update soon :)
Love, Pat
