Oh boy, is it a Trail!
The Pacific Crest Trail is a long-distance hiking and equestrian trail that stretches 2,655 miles or 4,286 kilometers from the Mexican border in California to the Canadian border in Washington, passing through Oregon on the way. It takes roughly 6 million steps and between 4.5 to 5.5 months to complete the whole thru hike. The trail passes through three states and a variety of ecological environments, crosses over 57 major mountain passes, and dips into 19 major canyons and goes past more than 1,000 lakes and tarns. It passes through 3 national monuments, 5 state parks, 7 national parks, 24 national forests and 47 wilderness areas. The lowest point is at 140 feet in Cascade Locks, Oregon and the highest point is at Forrester Pass in the Sierra Nevada at 13,153 feet.
